The current Adblock Plus development build (1.1.3+.2010033002) once again reworks “Show tabs on Flash and Java” feature. This should keep all of the advantages of the previous approach but make the issues (unreliable and ugly display on Linux, focus stealing, bad positioning) go away.

Wladimir, you’re underselling the performance improvements!
With 3 filter subscriptions (EL, EP, EL GER) Firefox now starts almost instantly whereas with ABP 1.1.3 there was a noticeable delay (~1.5 sec).

    Thank you! :)

Спасибо, исправил и изменил автоматические тесты, чтобы в следующий раз они такую проблему засекли: https://hg.adblockplus.org/adblockplus/rev/42eafbdb5192. В следующей сборке будет работать правильно.

The development build works better with Acid3 test in compare to the stable 1.1.3 build, which blocked the clickability of the reference rendering link and decreased the overall result to 1-2 points (apparently because of loop in Adblock). However, this version still suggests to block the http://acid3.acidtests.org/support-b.png element, which is not flash nor Java. No any problems with an option “Show tabs on Flash and Java” switched off. FF 3.6.3, WinXP.

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

This element is still an object however. I am not aware of any way to detect whether an object will allow browser’s context menu so tabs are shown on all of them just in case. Objects that embed images or HTML documents are very uncommon anyway.
