A new Adblock Plus 0.7.5.5+ development build (2008112122) has been uploaded. Multi-language build is available but not all translations are done yet (missing strings will be in English). This is a release candidate for Adblock Plus 1.0.

Is it just me or are pattern backups indeed broken (as in: no backups are created at all)? In case in matters: I’ve changed the .patternsfile pref to adblockplus.ini and the .patternsbackups pref to 1.

Furthermore I occasionally get the following errors with this build (2008112122) on the latest Minefield nightly. See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459784 for a possible fix.

    Error: uncaught exception: 2147500034
    Source File: chrome://adblockplus/content/prefs.js
    Line: 75 / 126

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

No, it is not only you – backups are broken, confirmed. Thanks for noticing!

As to the exception, I’ve never seen this one but will look into it.

As to the error message – is it reported for both Line 75 and Line 126? It would somewhat make sense for Line 126 (some other extension is probably causing it, maybe NoScript) but Line 75 cannot create exceptions.

I get the same error on a clean profile. Note that line 75 is

    .getService(Components.interfaces.nsIPrivateBrowsingService)

which maybe causes the exception when called too soon?

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

An exception there won’t be too surprising – private browsing is new, there might be bugs. Thing is, Adblock Plus explicitly catches all exceptions coming from private browsing service, so they shouldn’t reach the error console.

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

Apparently, this is a Firefox regression. The forum topic (http://adblockplus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3160) has more details.

adblock plus (even the dev builds) are not working with firefox 3.1b2 from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/3.1b2-candidates/

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

Thanks, I updated the compatibility info on addons.mozilla.org – installation should work there now. Next development build will install in Beta 2 as well.

    Hi
Addons.mozilla.org’s build hasn’t got compatibility with Firefox 3.1 Beta 3 pre version

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

Fixed, thanks for letting me know.
