Known issues in Adblock Plus for Google Chrome

The following lists issues known to affect Adblock Plus for Google Chrome. If your problem isn't listed, please check the forum and create a new topic if necessary (registration is not required).

The page "Adblock Plus has been installed" opens each time the browser is started

Cause: Chrome issue 158709, file storage got corrupted and Adblock Plus data cannot be saved

Solution: Remove Adblock Plus and install it again from Google Web Store (this clears all Adblock Plus data and should resolve the breakage). If this doesn't help: go to the directory where Chrome stores your data (on Windows: "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default", Linux: ~/.config/google-chrome/Default, Mac OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default) and remove the folder "File System". This won't make matters worse: the data in this folder is already corrupted. Removing the directory will allow Chrome to create it again and use it correctly.

Adblock Plus doesn't block in-video ads, background images, XMLHttpRequests

Cause: Google Chrome currently doesn't allow blocking any of these request types

Solution: Update to Chrome 17.

Text-based ads sometimes don't get blocked

Cause: Delay in blocking caused by the way Adblock Plus currently blocks things

Solution: Update to Chrome 17.
