What is going on with EasyList · 2009-04-07 13:06 by Wladimir Palant
EasyList development has to continue, despite the sad events. Many of you already know Ares2, he is a very active (and helpful) member of both EasyList and Adblock Plus forums. He has been maintaining a German complementary subscription for EasyList and Rick was speaking highly of his work. I asked Ares2 to take over EasyList maintenance and I am glad to announce that he accepted.
Please give Ares2 your support in his new role, he has some big shoes to fill. Maintaining a filter list used by millions of people is a big and complicated task, also complicated by the fact that Ares2 himself isn’t a US national. So community help will be essential. But I am confident that everything will work out well nevertheless.

Excellent choice!
I hope he’ll find the balance between managing 2 filter lists and Real Life™.

I knew it. :D

I think he (or someone else) should try to use a tool to sort filters:
filter | sites concerned | in use (or not) | last date checked
It could help if someone else has to continue the work… Good luck to Ares2 !

All the best for the future. On a practical note would you please tell me where I can (or will be able to) find your German Complementary Subscription for EasyList. I’m particularly interested in applying it to the dictionary: http://dict.leo.org/

As an Easylist subscriber, I owe my respect to Rick’s memory and I send my earnest appreciation to Ares2 in his newly enlarged responsibilities — where would we all be without such selfless and dedicated individuals?
Thanks.

Hi all, I recently noticed Firefox trying to connect to Ares2.org on port 443, I initially thought it may be some sort of spyware or Virus phoning home, so I decline access using Little Snitch (Mac Only) and then I did a little research about Ares2.org and arrived to this website – So, I think it is related to AdBlock Plus trying to download the latest AdBlock definitions – Am I correct? Thanks.
Reply from Wladimir Palant:
Adblock Plus is using different servers for EasyList downloads – for now easylist-downloads.adblockplus.org and ares2.org, more mirrors should be added later.
