Adblock Plus automatically updated in Thunderbird 52.1.1. Same problem with Thunderbird 54.0b2.
Reading a RSS news feed, suddenly ads did appear in the article. Checking the filter list subscriptions - they were all gone.
Reverting to ABP 2.8.2 restores the filter subscriptions.
Is this already the point were Thunderbird doesn't cope any more with the changes in preparation for web extensions?
If that's the case, why is ABP 2.9 marked as compatible up to Thunderbird 56?

Why didn't you include the fix for issue #5278 in the 2.9.1 ABP release?
