adblock not working
adblock not working
I've had adblock installed for about 6 months now since I got my new computer. I've never had any problems with viewing ads. But, all of a sudden, I'm seeing ads again. On youtube and facebook. I haven't checked other sites yet.
The only thing I could attribute to this is the storms knocked out my power while my browser was still open. I turned my computer back on and started seeing ads. Not sure if the two are related, but that's the only thing I can think of.
I remove adblock and reinstalled it, it's still not working. someone please help

Re: adblock not working
I encounter the same problem, since yesterday night it didn't block ads anymore, the "block" button didn't appear anymore on my computer.
As Angry I tried to delete it and install it and it still didn't work.
It's been so long I didn't see any ads... now I remember how annoying it was ...

Re: adblock not working
It seems something went wrong with the latest update. I've had the same problem with all sites I've visited since the update of June 30th.
Re: adblock not working
I'm experiencing the same thing. Also, when I try to click on 'filter preferences' nothing happens. This update seems to have screwed everything up. Hope they fix asap!
Re: adblock not working
put my name on the list of those experiencing the same problem.
Re: adblock not working
I'm having the same issue this definitely has something to do with the June 30th update.
Re: adblock not working
Same here. Adblock updated itself on June 29th. Since then it stopped working, filter prefs can't be displayed from the Add-ons manager and the Tools menu entry for Adblock is missing.
Firefox Mac 13.0.1
Firefox Mac 13.0.1
Re: adblock not working
Update:
All you guys experiencing the problem, go to the Adblock add-on page and re-download Adblock. It should retain your prefs and start working again.
Still, something's wrong with the last update.

Re: adblock not working
same issue here, most ads are no longer blocked
Re: adblock not working
If you click on the abp-button and open the filter settings, you will find a radio button at the end bottom of the tab, that says something like: "allow certain kind of ads" - disable that button. worked for me.
Re: adblock not working
I'm having the same issue, using Firefox 13.01. Last night I noticed images weren't loading, but I thought it was just an error specific to the site I was using. Then this morning, I noticed that I was seeing ads again. I have tried changing the filters, and uninstalling and then re-installing, restarting my laptop, but there's no difference, and the Adblock bar at the bottom has disappeared. And every time I go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... lock-plus/ it shows that it has not been installed, even though it is listed in my ad-on manager. I'm not sure if this is a FF issue, ABP issue, or both.
Re: adblock not working
Hi Folks,
I've got the same problem. For what it's worth, it appears that when I try to change options for adblock, e.g. turning on "show in toolbar", the setting doesn't save... I leave the adblock preferences and come back, and find the option isn't checked. Also no adblock plus icon. And the right click to disable this damn ad isn't there either. I fear you first changed my preferences to auto-update automatically (you say "default" when I check, don't say what the default _is_) and then downloaded and installed a broken update.
I've been using adblock for years, and love(d?) it. _I want it back_.
Please post a workaround, even if that's only how to download a prior, working version and disable updates forever.
Also firefox 13.01. And of course its conceivable that firefox is what auto-updated a broken version, but I believe that something on your site claimed your latest version was 30 June 2012, i.e. yesterday.

Re: adblock not working
I checked your "how to report a bug" and discovered the "error console", though ti wasn't quite where you said it would be (in firefox). I've got a slew of errors like the folowing. (I've tried to include an example of each distinct message, but have quite probably missed a few.)

All occur within a 12 minute span ending at the time I brought up the error console - conclusion - there were plenty more, but there's limited room in the buffer that stores them. (This looks like a log flood situation.)
I've been fiddling with add-on manager trying to fix this mess since I found ads on pages where I'd never seen ads before. So that may account for large numbers of (failing?) access attempts.

Re: adblock not working
hello
I have the same problem with the same version
it is impossible to add filters, adblock shuts down firefox every time I want to look at filtering elements, only with opening "elements we want to filter" !!
very strange.
