Installation failed, Can't uninstall?

I'm using mozilla 1.7.12.
This installation of mozilla is brand spankin new.

FIRST thing i ran off to do is install adblock plus.
click the link for installing latest build.
it failed.
script error.

Restart mozilla.
adblock is in my tools menu.
can't uninstall though.

menus are there.
buttons do nothing.

how do i remove it, re-install it, and keep it from failing?

Does a new profile help?

Could test it first by going to "Tools->Switch Profile->Manage Profile->Create Profile" then use the newly created profile.
