FireFox Dev. Edition 40.0a2 Multiprocess

Post by kevinmcc »

After switching on Multiprocess, which is a new feature, Adblock Plus is not working at all.

The Adblock Plus developers may want to start looking in to this as this will probably be an upcoming feature in a few months time.

Can confirm, doesn't work at all, or any addons for it.

Ok, maybe it partially works... but on Youtube it doesn't block the ads, only blocks skipping them.

The only problem I notice in the latest Nightly is the amount of time it takes to open the preferences window when the filters are sorted by any criterion.

What's your version of Adblock Plus? Make sure you're using the latest development build.

Installed the Development build (2.6.9.3936) and it still doesn't block youtube ads.

It blocks everything on youtube, except for the video ad in the beginning. It also removes the ability to skip the ad in the beginning, forcing me to disable adblock.

If you really want a link, here's a video it didn't work on... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHjM-TnLlPc

Here's a screen of what it looks like.

I noticed it not working after I enabled the mutliprocess option on the new Dev FireFox update and went to a website I regularly visit.

That site has Toobla (spelling) ads I had previously blocked and they were showing up.

I went to Open Blockable Items and there were no items listed.

I assumed mutliprocess was the issue since everything was working previously and there was information about plugins potentially being broken on the FireFox page.

I believe the OP is on to something. I found a video that, with multiprocess FF (e10s) enabled, will show an ad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCjsbImXiyg

The ad is disabled by ABP as soon as I turn off e10s and restart FF.

I'd give another link, but I'm not sure how to locate youtube videos with ads in them to test.

I have the developer build of ABP 2.6.9.

Did so just now: https://issues.adblockplus.org/ticket/2552

BTW---I didn't see an option to automatically subscribe to tickets that you have written---I assume that the bug tracker will automatically send me emails any time the ticket is updated?

I just installed on another computer and verified the issue.

With multiprocess not enabled I can see list of blockable items.

With multiprocess enabled I get "No blockable items".

Again, no problems in the latest Nightly with the first video. As for the second, I can't watch 01:47:24 worth of video to see if an ad pops up.

So please try the latest Nightly in a brand new profile, and install the latest development build in it.

On Windows 8 64-bit in Firefox 40.0a2 32-bit Developer Edition, go to Tools-Options-General. Select "Enable multi-process Firefox Developer Edition". Restart Firefox. Adblock Plus 2.6.9.3938 development build stops working.
Deleted all profiles, uninstalled Firefox 40.0a2 32-bit Developer Edition, deleted all folders referencing Mozilla or Firefox. Reinstalled Firefox 40.0a2 32-bit Developer Edition. Reinstalled Adblock Plus 2.6.9.3938 development build as the only add-on. Tested and worked. Went to Tools-Options-General and Selected "Enable multi-process Firefox Developer Edition". Restarted Firefox 40.0a2 32-bit Developer Edition. Adblock Plus 2.6.9.3938 development build stopped working.
