Adblock Plus development - some questions

Is the development of AB+ in any way related to the development of AB?
Is AD+ the future version of AB?
Or will the whitelisting feature of AB+ be transferred to AB?
Are the authors of AB watching the development of AB+ or are they doing their own thing?
What will happen to AB+ if there is a new version of AB with all the features AB+ offers now?
The point is that i don't want to install an extension that becomes obsolete if my favorite extension(AB) is updated. To me it looks like AB+ is just an improvement of AB that will cease to exist after AB is updated with whitelisting and stuff like it.
PS: forum registration is impossible because the confirmation code is not displayed (no, no ad blocking problem)

I was going to answer the questions above with my own opinion and speculation, but my personal answer is "I don't know." If anyone can answer any of these questions, the principal developer of AB+, mcm, would be the best person to ask. Frankly, I'm not sure it would be fair to pin mcm down to what mcm's plans are--after all, they could change.

Why not just be grateful for and enjoy AB+ while it's available? If and when a version of AB comes out that is superior to AB+, then you can start using it then. It sounds like you want a promise that that will never happen before using AB+, and that doesn't make any sense to me.

Q: Is the development of AB+ in any way related to the development of AB?
A: No.
Q: Is AD+ the future version of AB?
A: The future will likely be Adblock 0.6.
Q: Or will the whitelisting feature of AB+ be transferred to AB?
A: The Adblock developers have confirmed there will be a whitelist feature but it may not necessarily be in the same form as it is in Adblock Plus.
Q: Are the authors of AB watching the development of AB+ or are they doing their own thing?
A: Don't know. But Adblock 0.6 has been in development since July last year while Adblock Plus was only started in May this year so no doubt it was already implemented before Adblock Plus came along.
Q: What will happen to AB+ if there is a new version of AB with all the features AB+ offers now?
A: Probably be forgotten about.

True, but I'm not sure how it makes too much of a difference. The only issue might be to do with the implementation of whitelisting the Adblock developers choose. At the very worst you would just have to modify your white filters to make them compatible. Otherwise upgrading from Adblock 0.5.2 to 0.6 is going to be no less painful then from Adblock Plus to 0.6.
