Stopped working

My Adblock Plus has simply stopped working. I uninstalled, reinstalled, and updated Firefox to 3.55, but still it doesn't work. The tool still finds things to block -- I can access the list of blockable items and there they all are. But nothing is blocked. (P.S. Use Windows Vista.)
