Adblock not working anymore as it used to.

I acknowledge the effort of adblock getting rid of ads and it has been such a good addon that sorted most of the problems.
Of late I'm experiencing quite a good number of annoying adverts that were previously not present since I installed adblock. Could this be that Adblock is loosing its strength or what?
