Politico Comments Blocked Again

Post by Marco »

Firefox 55.0.3

I filed two issues report, but it hasn't been fixed, yet.

I can change the black bar to blue when you click on it, but comments never open.
I updated Easy List and Fanboy's Annoyances.
Comments are visible on IE.

Please suggest a new fix, since the old ones do not apply.

I assume you wanted me to add as a new filter.

That didn't work for me, unless I did it wrong.

I love the "next generation."

No luck. I disabled it and then I disabled HTTPS Everywhere.

Then I checked Privacy Badger, which doesn't show to the right of my nav bar (where my addons are - what is that area called?), but is in the menu.
After I disabled PB, comments appeared.
Then I enabled ABP. Then HTTPS.

I keep having conflicts like this with Privacy Badger and keep disabling it. This time I forgot about it.

As I trust EFF implicitly, I test this add-on on occasion. I'll write them again and then be done with it until the next iteration.

Delighted!

Thank you.

You said the official release of FF 57 is mid-November? I just updated to v56- quite a jump. I hope there are obvious improvements.

I just discovered - and read about Element Hiding Helper.
Since Outlook.com is an annoying SOB and in order to get rid of the annoying features, I need to block them.
I imagine that I should go back to the original ABP. Is there an alternative?

Thank you.

In the "new" ABP click the icon then click "block element", it should propose some filters (to approve / modify) but ...unfortunately there are still some bugs and sometimes the window is empty.

I prefer to keep a portable FF 55 (avoiding updating) and the old ABP (OFF on update too) just to use EHH.

mapx,

My new ABP icon looks completely different from your description.

I downloaded (successfully, I might add) EHH, but it's nowhere to be found.
According to your response, my "new" ABP should display it, but there may be bugs.
I have a feeling that you aren't familiar with what I am seeing.

You keep a portable FF 55 - where do you keep it?
I thought I would do something like that, but I could not verbalize.

Your image is showing the new ABP.
EHH cannot be used together it.

I said I'll keep the old FF (55) + old ABP + old EHH (last EHH ..) in a portable installation in my system just to use it when I have to investigate some difficult filter issue.

In the new ABP as you can see in your image, there is that entry "block element" which could help you to create filters (as EHH did but it's not so strong).
It does not work for now, there are some bugs in ABP or in firefox 56 / 57.

see the bug on the tracker:

Oh, for goodness sake! Maybe I looked from right to left and saw the icon (do not enter).

Thank you.

Will check out the bug report.
Thank you for reporting it.

Things have been relatively problem free, but I'm having a problem with Politico.com again.
Sometimes comments won't open because there aren't any, but I checked IE and there are plenty.
I applied your recommended filter and I updated all of my Easy List, etc. filters just now.

Comments still won't open.https://www.politico.com/story/2017/12/ ... erComments
