Element hiding helper issues

Hiding helper is not cooperating most of the time for me. I can get the selection to show every once in a while, but mostly, clicking on "choose element to hide" results in nothing happening at all.

You should abandon ABP 2.9.1 and EHH (wont work anymore since FF 57 landing in november).

Install ABP beta:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addo ... sions/beta

and use the "block element" feature (clicking ABP icon, "block element") to replace (not so strong ...) EHH.

Unfortunately, the "block element" feature is not available everywhere. Like facebook for example, where I'd really like to get rid of thise "people you might know" things and such

if you use last beta build, try (working for me)

Code: Select all

facebook.com#?#.fbUserStory:-abp-contains(People you)
for this sort of ads on FB, "block element" is useless

Maybe, it might still be useful for other things, though. It's really awful that the entire feature is not available on fb, and fb only, makes me really angry

"block element" in the new ABP for FF ==> click ABP icon, click "block element". Then select what do you want and a filter will be proposed (for now there are some bugs but in the final build will be correct)

Did you test the filter above ? Provide your feedback.

I was able to restore some old filters of mine (the new advanced filter settings are a topic of their own) to make everything I don't want to see go away. Th thing is, it just seems VERY suspicious that FB is the only page where you do not even get the block element feature at all, in any browser.

Did you read my post ?

for the new ABP
"block element" in the new ABP for FF ==> click ABP icon, click "block element".
for the old on FF use EHH.

Latest dev version, go to FB, click the icon, no "block element" anywhere to be found. It is just fine on any other site.
The same is happening in chrome as well as it seems

wouldn't bugs affect more than just one specific site?
I simply cannot get rid of the feeling that FB (or their advertising partners) have a deal with ABP so they removed the element blocking feature there

FB is enforcing various policies on their pages (CSP).

Reported on the bug tracker:

since I could restore my own custom filters, I had no need for the above
