Adblock Plus 3.0.1

Post by romiha »

Help. Quite a few sites I visit regularly and without any issues in the past, no longer work if I have Adblock Plus enabled in Firefox 56.0.2 (64 bit). Specifically, posts in some forums are not working - defaulted fonts are messed up, posts vanish into thin air or simply are "hidden"until I turn ABP off. Specific sites so far are CafeMom and Gmail Help Forum where I'm a Top Contributor!

Adblock Plus (version 1.13.4)?! still works fine in Chrome version 62.0.3202.89 (64 bit) - but I much prefer Firefox.

If this is a duplicate post, my apologies.

Is this a known issue?

See the sticked thread about issues in ABP 3

However, give up FF 56 (buggy) and install FF 57 (currently in beta) and test again

WOW FF 57 looks SO different!! But now AdBlock Plus does not seem to be adversely affecting sites in FF.

thanks so very much for the tip.

Now, need to find a new Add-on for FF 57 to replace Tab Mix Plus. GRRR!

I can't win for losing!!

Firefox v57 is not out officially yet, thus ad block v3.xx is completely USELESS. Element Hiding Helper does not work and it looks like 'something similar' is developed in v3.xx but it is NOT as flexible as original Element Hiding.
As 4 essential extension I use are still classified as 'legacy' and will not work with Firefox, there is no point for me updating to any Firefox >= v57 and therefore to Adblock v3.xx as it DOES NOT STOP all ads as pre v3.xx did.
Sorry, but this is a step BACKWARD and waste of your programming talents. I heavily rely on Element Hiding Helper as there is SO MUCH CRAP on Internet that without it I would not browse it at all. I pity brainwashed idiots who browse Internet and get exposed to all those idiotic ads. No wonder people are getting more and stupid by the hour, particularly Americanos. My Firefox with Adblock v2.9.1 + Element Hiding Helper clean all that garbage.

It's not the ABP team's fault that Firefox dropped support for non-WebExt extensions, and they had to use their programming talents to keep from being abandoned entirely; also, in case you do want to use a stable build of Firefox 57, it should be released tomorrow, Tuesday 14 November 2017, at about 18:00 UTC (1PM Eastern USA, 10AM at Mozilla HQ).
There's a buzzin' in my brain I really can't explain; I think about it before they make me go to bed.
