Yesterday on 03 Feb 2018 I wanted to see some episodes of Startrek:Discovery again and was presented with this message:

What!??
Can they deny service to a paying customer because I don't care to watch ads? I think this is an intrusion to my privacy and my computer. And after studying this a little bit, am I correct in my understanding is what they do send out code to see if it sees if something particular is displayed on my screen? Then report back that it doesn't see it on my screen? Sounds Big Brother-ish to me.
What can I do? Probably not ethical but is all this legal on their part?
I'm in New York, USA. I'm using Firefox 57.0.4 (64 bit); Windows 7 Professional (64 bit), Service Pack 1).
Please advise. Thanks.
