Does AdBlockPlus stop cryptocurrency/coin mining?

Does adblock plus stop cryptocurrency e.g., bitcoin etc. mining? I found one article online saying that in order to block, you have to add this list to adblock: coin-hive.com/lib/coinhive.min.js

Is that necessary, or does adblock already block miners from sites we visit? Or worse, would adding that actually cause problems and allow mining or other issues, rather than actually blocking cryptocurrency mining?

I'm using the following filters:

Adblock Warning Removal List
EasyPrivacy
Fanboy's Social Blocking List
Disable Malware
EasyList
