I can't use last FF!
It's version numbers - 3.1 and 2.91 AdBlock

Tell me where AB stores all its settings?

Search in your FF profile a file named storage.js

Thanks, that was a very useful bit of information!

Code: Select all

\FireFox\j1ybrkzw.default\browser-extension-data\{d10d0bf8-f5b5-c8b4-a8b2-2b9879e08c5d}\storage.js
This is file I need. But I still can't understand why AB loses it with FF crash!
BTW only AB has this bug. FormSave, for example, keeps it since 2017-11-27 without problem...

I will, but it will be of little use - I have everything in this profile, settings, extensions, bookmarks, history, etc, etc, it's about 10 years old.

Yes, I catch the bug!
AB rewrites this file every minute. Without needs - I didn't change settings! No wonder during crash file gets damaged - it isn't in "crash-proof" format, like SQLite.

However, if you use an obsolete FF version (like FF 56 - which is full of bugs) you cannot fix your issue

I wonder if the "blocked_total" preference is worth saving at all on Firefox
Just as I suspected - AB writes "total ads blocked" every minute. This is root of the problem, it didn't happen in older versions!

Code: Select all

"pref:blocked_total":309
Absolutely useless feature, but creates a tons of problem!

Just 5 minutes ago seen something interesting - storage.js became 2 bytes size!
During work with FireFox. I take look inside file - "{}" - that what was inside.
So, adblock killing it's own file. It has nothing to do with Firefox closing without proper exit.
When I load web site with lots of ads, right after that, storage.js was restored to normal.

So, that's why AdBlock systematically loses all settings! It kills storage.js, then restore it, but if FF crashed, it stays killed!
