Where is AdBlock for Firefox stored?

Post by Moondoggy »

I was experimenting with a number of ad blocking add-on for Firefox on my Windows 10 PC and I may have tried AdBlocker Plus at some point but I've since uninstalled it. Unfortunately, one of the websites that I visit puts a block on their page preventing me from viewing the page until I allows ads for their web page. Unfortunately, it's impossible for me to allow ads for this site because the AdBlock Plus isn't installed. What I'm wondering is whether I installed AdBlocker Plus, removed it but some files, etc were not removed and because of this their web page is picking this up thinking that I still have the software installed. So, if I was looking to see where anything related to an install of AdBlock plus is still installed, can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

I forgot to update this topic until the last post. The answer is a bit more complex than I thought it would be but Firefox will perhaps make things easier to deal with. To explain, Firefox creates a profile folder for the logged on user so when you add any add-on the information regarding that add-on gets stored in that profile folder. The problem is that the profile folder looks to be a bit complicated. The goog news is that Firefox has a built in function that allows you to replace your existing profile folder with a fresh profile with no add-ons. This solved my issue as my original profile got messed up as when I was testing different ad blockers the removal process didn't remove all traces of the old ad blocker. Since I had decided on what ad blocker I wanted to use I performed a profile reset to create a fresh profile then I added that ad blocker to that new profile. Once I did this the confusion I was experiencing disappeared.

Hi there!

Thanks for reaching out to us with your question! When you click on the Firefox hamburger icon ( three lines in the right corner of the page) > click on Add ons
Does Adblock Plus show as an installed extension there? Are there any other extensions there that could be blocking ads?

Also we did notice that Firefox's tracking protection being enabled can cause this issue. Follow the steps in this link to disable https://help.eyeo.com/en/adblockplus/fi ... g?2dad82d7 and let us know if it helps.

You can also see step by step how to disable for that particular site or uninstall completely here https://help.eyeo.com/en/adblockplus/un ... s?2dad82d7

Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions!

Thanks
