When I launch Firefox, it doesn't apply my personnal filters in Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus.
Have to go to "Adblock Plus" Menu, active "Disable everywhere", then desactive it for Adblock Plus to work (have the french interface, so not sure of the english menu).

When FF starts the home page is started before ABP could be completely initialized. So, you should choose a simple home page (with no ads or only few ads).
Or - in case your FF would restart with the left tabs .. well you have to refresh the pages.
