NSFW general problem with popunder / popups

Post by sac »

Hi,

there seems to be a general propblem with adblock easylist popups. Example:

1. configure firefox to use adblock & easylist
2. goto pornhub.com
3. click on any video

Result:
the original tab is redirected to an ad location & your targeted video is opened in a new tab. In this newly created tab, the history is copied (means you can click back), but it's actually a newly created tab.

This happens just if easylist / adblock is active, otherwise a popup is opened. I guess there's a detection if this popup was opened and if not a nasty mechanism is enforced. But I have seen this strange beahvior on several sites that mess with the original tabs.

Would be great if someone knows what causes this ( I don't need a site specific filter, this is a general issue ). Caused by easylist or adblock? Why is it worse if those are enabled ( I wouldn't mind if a "popup" is opened in a new tab, but it shouldn't be possible to mess with my original tab, imagine this happens to google results)?

Thx, but there's only s.o. recommending UBO. No interest here in fixing adblock?

It's no interest from ABP to implement such features (I'm not part of the team..). It was asked / requested ages ago (4 years ago !!) and still nothing.
