Yahoo Mail 2019

Post by Cher Man »

Late autumn this year Yahoo introduced a new very persistent type of popup advert on the MAIL box page.
I cannot block it because it vanishes when i click to block on it,
I cannot directly report it because also the advert is gone when the report screenshot becomes active...
so i made a normal print screen to catch the culprit and show it to you ;)
I use Windows 7, SP1, 64 Bit, Firefox 70.00

Hi @Cher Man

Thanks for reaching out about this. I was able to reproduce this on my end. Since it recommended site content, it may be categorized as self promotion but I will run a few tests and reach out to our filter lists experts for confirmation. Thanks for reporting this!

Thanks

Drives me nut the fact that i cannot "kill" that intrusive popup :p

Since the publisher is yahoo, and its on the yahoo site. We wouldn't normally block these automatically. However, I was looking in the settings to see if there is something we can do to prevent it within yahoo settings. Nothing yet. Do you have any luck blocking the element using these steps https://help.eyeo.com/en/adblockplus/bl ... t?b5e9f793 ?

@sbell

I have the same problems with Yahoo Mail, and they've become significantly more malevolent in terms of the quantity of their advertisements AND how obnoxious their frequent whitelisting requests are. Your "workaround" makes it worse; it blocks the popup, but everything remains greyed, so that the mailbox is completely inaccessible..

I'd like to hear if a patch for this is coming up anytime soon.
