Google took over, no ads are beeing filtered

Post by Murkalael »

Before someone says anything, I already did all steps on checklist for make it work on chrome. I once needed to install on my client's laptop from chromestore before the new plugin policy and witnessed an useless icon on my browser because nothing were beeing blocked back then. And now history is reapeating itself. I did a test on my most visited sites with chrome and opera, both using ABP freshly installed updated, only difference, opera's plugin came from ABP website and chrome's came from chromestore. On the same site Opera blocked everything like it was supposed to, while on chrome I have to deal with lots of mouse down scripts that oppened tons of endless poup ups filled with ads and some even porn. Please do something to fix this, try to find a way to circunvent google's stupid policy. I have kids home and I cannot use chrome anymore on my computer due this crap.

Yes, I use this addon for years, I know all it's fine tuning to make internet bearable. Unfortunatelly there's no other reliable source I can use to install on chrome and it's not the first time this happens on chromestore

It sounds like malware. Did you scan that system for malware / adware ?

No, is not malware. I use this computer only for gaming, also I fix computers, and did check it out for this possibility. And no, I noticed on my client's computer that this is going on, I installed ABP (only one listed with dev's name) and was not blocking but on my computer, ABP was already installed for about 6 months before chrome's new plugin policy. It only updated automatically, I assume by your servers or their's. Anyway, a fresh install on my client's laptop proven also innefective. Nothing is beeing blocked but few ads on youtube. If admin allows me I can send either in private message to devs or here on this topic, a few sites that I access and have a lot of mouse down scripts not beeing filtered, while on opera all work as intended.

Post those sites here (in code block mode, not as clickable links)

Code: Select all

https://www.animestelecine.me/

These are the ones I can remember at the top of my head, but there are several others with the same issue.

Well, all those 3 sites are movie / torrent sites, full of popups or anti adblocking stuff.

ABP (the official list) easylist does not block anti adb stuff (for legal reasons).
The movies sites are using lots of popups / redirections.

For such sites (all 3 above) you should use other adblocker (better equipped for such goals)
ublock origin (uBo):
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... iagm?hl=en

Just test it on those sites (disabling ABP).

For filters report here:

I understand the legal stuff, but the question remains. Why ABP works fine on those site with opera and not chrome? I use ABP on opera instead of the built in adblocker.

Are you saying animestelecine is ok (no anti adblocking) for you in opera (without any other custom filters)?

Only thing I see on animestelecine is that it detects the ABP on opera and put some pics asking to disable it, but nothing that would interfere with site funcionality so no weird poup ups or mouse scripts.

Could you test uBo (linked above) in chrome for those sites ?

Tested. Same results. Chrome nothing blocked, Opera all working fine. I even tried on a client's laptop, fresh windows and browsers install, with very same results. So I assume there's something wrong with chrome's version of both extention. On all these three sites I get a number over blocker icon with like 3-4 ads blocked but the mouse down scripts are still present on chrome, while opera seems to handle it pretty well

It's nothing wrong with both ABP / uBo.

Take a site, provide exact address, upload (on imgur.com) a screenshot with what ads aren't blocked, post here (link, info) and I'll test the same page.
