I use adblock in the database in the extension list in tool menu. It works pretty fine.

I go to the extensions page and it says I have no extensions and asks me if I want to go to the gallery instead. There is no option to add an extension, only a box to check for developer mode. No way for me to download Adblock Plus, even though I have latest version of Chrome.

You should try the ABP homepage; I have checked that Torch is based on a recent-enough version of Chromium (latest stable Torch is 42, ABP needs at least 29): https://adblockplus.org/

NOTHING works. I keep getting the same message: "Your Chrome version is not supported by the Web Store. Download the latest Google Chrome." I've downloaded the latest version, several times. Torch is just not recognizing it for some reason.

Maybe the Chrome Web Store itself requires a later version of Chromium than Torch is based on (latest Chrome Stable is version 53, and 42 is more than a year old); a cursory check through View Source didn't find anything of interest.
