I have the same problem now. It got mysterioulsy deleted from chrome, if it's any help, I had trouble with the sweet page just before. That's been taken care of, I also deleted all the programms that had been installed on my computer today and ran twice malwarebytes. But now this error message keeps appearing "Package is invalid. Details: 'Cannot load extension with file or directory name _. Filenames starting with "_" are reserved for use by the system.'.". Tried creating a new user, tried downloading it from the website. Nothing. And i've grown quite used to having no advertisement on webpages so anybody has a solution for me ?

Did everything you did, still doesn't work :/
The button to install the less stable developer version doesn't even appear...
But thank you for your help ! At least, I have an over clean computer now. (or a very nasty thing that can't be detected.)

what chrome version are you using ?
what language ?
what operating system ?

what do you mean with "I had trouble with the sweet page just before" ?

workaround:

open internet explorer
go to en/chrome
click "install for chrome" ==> you'll can download the crx file
change the extension from crx to zip

Then un-zip file the file locally. ==> in a folder
In chrome, go to the extensions page (tools -> extensions), select the 'Developer mode' checkbox
Click the "Load unpacked extension..." button
Navigate to the location of the unzip ABP extension folder. and select it.
ABP extension should load.

Language : English us
windows 7 64 bits, avast antivirus.
For the sweet page, I tried downloading something, didn't work but f*cked me around big time (well, that was not very secure and I knew it but still) and in the mean time as i got this sweet page thing, adblock also disappeared and since then well, it cleared doesn't want to be installed again.
Now, stupid question : I downloaded the crx file from i.e, changed the extension to zip but of course, it doesn't want to open now. So should i install a software to unzip it ? should normally not be necessary (no ?)

yep, normally windows has the builtin function to unzip the file

your chrome is a little too old, so install the last one (version 34)
so, first of all try chrome 34 and try again installing ABP (from the links above)

a good unzip utility (but also RAR and others) is

Well, I should have thought about it. Updating chrome...worked !
