Still Seeing Ads After All Suggested Fixes

Adblock Plus is still allowing ads - examples below - despite performing the following procedures:

1- "Allow some non-intrusive advertising" is not checked.
2- Filter lists - including EasyList - are enabled and up to date.
3- All other extensions disabled.
4- After scanning with several products - no malware.

I'm not going to the trouble of resetting Chrome or creating a new profile. It would be faster and easier to try another ad blocker.

Here are three examples of allowed advertising:

1- Windows Central [ http://www.windowscentral.com/ ] is currently showing large, static ads for Lumosity (page-width size) and JetBlue.
2- SlickDeals [ https://slickdeals.net/ ] is currently showing large, animated ads placed by AdChoices.
3- Tom's Hardware [ http://www.tomshardware.com/ ] is currently showing large (page-width size) static ads for MEFA.org

In all three examples above, the "Block element" tool does not block the ad.

Why are these ads being let through? Is there a way to block them?
