Slate broke ABP!

Post by ibeme99 »

Am seeing ads on Slate.com now. Most annoying! I can't select the ads or block them. It's as if they are invisible to ABP.

Can you counter?

I am using these subscriptions:

yes, ABP is unable to block such (very nasty) ads.

Try adding this extension ublock origin extra:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... ffkjpaplco

The main extension is ublock origin (another adblocker which has advanced options). If you decide to install also uBo (not only ubo extra), you have to disable ABP.

Ublock doesn't seem to work with Slate's comment software from Livefyre (for me anyway). I do use UB in FF and Pale Moon browsers but again from them, Livefyre doesn't seem to work in Slate.

It's been some time. So just tried Slate in FF ESR browser but I could not get logged on. It prompted me correctly for my email address and password, which had been remembered.

But I kept hitting refresh and suddenly, I got logged on! So I will try full ublock in Chrome and see if that works here also.

Dumped ABP and installed UBlock Origin + Extra. Seems to mostly do the job, except that one of the [many] Google Chrome tabs that get opened with the Chrome browser shows 12.5% CPU usage! Not good. I am running a 4790K CPU, so that is a lot of cycles.

I Will take this over to UBlock forums tomorrow.
