Adblock Plus doesnt work on newtab (possibly no URL problem)

I think the reason is becaue newtab doesn't have url, as i am trying to get rid of the empty tiles. i know it says adblock plus forumd oes not help with filter issues like that for whatever reason but this isnt a filter issue, i just want to know why it doesn't work o chrome:newtab or chrome://newtab, i will try google.co.uk from now on though or encrypted.google.com

The reason more specifically is that pages in the chrome:// and chrome-extension:// schemes are privileged.
