Opt-in blocking

Post by Mirality »

Can we please get a feature for opt-in blocking? I don't mind ads in general and would prefer to just blacklist specific sites that have abusive ads, without messing with the revenue model of better-behaved sites. (I actually think that this should be the default mode, but that's a different discussion.)

I know that it's possible to define a custom filter rule to do this, but it doesn't work very well -- it takes a large number of steps to get to the filter and update it. Worse, if you forget and go to the very prominent ABP menu and select "disable ads on this site" then it will happily delete the entire custom filter rule with no recourse.

I just want a simple checkbox that switches it to "allow all ads except on these sites" and then show a blacklist instead of a whitelist, while still letting the menu easily add and remove sites from the blacklist. It really should be very easy to implement.

This used to be a standard feature in Ye Olde original Adblock extension.
