ad block detected

I get a lot of pop ups saying "ad block detected", "please whitelist us" and so on. Is there any way to modify adblock behavior to block *those* in addition to ads? (Obviously there are the newsletter pop ups that keep coming, too, but don't think there's a global fix there?)
