Chrome adblock plus fails to block where firefox doesn't

Post by tancrackers »

The bar on the bottom of the page (it says share this | challenge! | fan page| like, etc.) shows up on chrome's adp while firefox's version does fine. Opera's no ads extension also fails to hide the bar.
Google chrome 64bit, firefox 4 64bit, Kubuntu 10.10
chrome: adblock plus beta 1.1.2 firefox: adblock+ 1.3.5
Filters: Adversity, Easyprivacy, fanboy adult/dating, 2 custom filters.
EDIT: Also on http://www.sporcle.com/ some of the ads are hidden but the spaces are not closed. This is in Chrome (and opera) but firefox is fine despite using the exact same subscriptions and custom filters.
Here are my custom filters:

Does it make any difference if you use the Annoyance list?

I don't have the annoyances list in firefox 4, but the bar doesn't show anyway. I tried the list in chrome, and the bar was still appearing.
I used no ads's element blocker on opera though and blocked it. I took the new filter it gave me and added it to chrome and the now the bar doesn't appear! :P

I don't generally like the annoyances list though because on http://www.schedulizer.com/#welcome, when you connect with facebook it reminds you on log out that this will log you out of schedulizer and facebook. A couple of other things but I can't recall at the moment.
I'm not sure if you guys will address this since it's an issue with no ads on opera, but I'll go for it. On http://www.snopes.com/snopes.asp the ads get blocked but sometimes certain frames are leftover despite using the same filters as adblock+ and I would have to add the following filter:
On chrome and ff there's no issue. But in opera there is a blank space that does not get closed near the bottom of the page below the last listed categories and above "Urban Legends Reference Pages © 1995-2011."
If you guys don't want to address that, can you just explain why two adblockers would act differently despite using the same filters? Is it the adblockers themselves? The browsers? Thank you.
