How do you add URL's (Pop-up Tabs) to Block List?

Post by leeuniverse »

So, I go to some websites in which you click on the page, they like to pop-up a million NEW TABS (websites) over and over again before you can do anything on the page, watch a video, etc.
For example, it's "video hosting" websites which do this...

Is there an easy way of "blocking" for example, the "base URL" of these pages, like maybe a "key combo press" which will add the base URL to the block list of a website for the tab you're on?

This is something I don't get, why isn't there an easy way of adding TABS (aka URL's) we don't want? I mean, why doesn't Adblock Plus work by whatever tab's open, you can quickly CLICK the ABP Button, or like I said a Keypress to easy add URL's we want blocked? Does ABP ONLY work with "filter lists"? Is there no way to easy way to add links to it?

It's popular out there to have base URL's which generate Ad pages or redirect to other content, so I want to block those URL's so those new tabs/pages don't even popup and redirect etc. They also have dozens of those base URL's they use for ad/redirect page generation.

Help, thanks...

Here are the steps to add a website to block list:
1. Open the browser and go to Tools (alt+x) > Internet Options.
2. Now click the security tab and then click the red Restricted sites icon.
3. Click the Sites button below the icon.
4. Now in the pop-up, manually type the websites you want to block one-by-one.
5. Click Add after typing the name of each site.

Hi there,
On Firefox Browser, you can install an addon called BlockSite to block website.
1. Install the addon, press ctrl+shift+a, and click Extensions on the left.
2. Now click Options under BlockSite. In the pop-up, click Add and type the name of the website you want blocked. Repeat the process for all websites you don't want to access.
3. Click OK.Now these websites will be blocked on Firefox.
4. You can also set a password in BlockSite to prevent others from editing the list of blocked websites.
5. This can be done via the options menu described in the previous step.
