adblock prevents gmail address auto complete from working

Post by chrome user »

I'm not sure how this is happening, but adblock seems to disable address completion from correctly working in gmail, perhaps one of the default lists you can enable is over zealous, but i'm not sure

Had the same issue. Updated the filters and restarted chrome and now everything is back to normal. Not sure what the problem was.

Still broken for me. Using "Easy List" and "Recommended filters for Google Chrome" with Chrome 12.0.742.122

I posted about it too, AB+ is a disaster in Chrome 13, it's not just the Gmail issue - that I had too - it's the whole navigation, the loading of tens of sites that's affected.

Thanks for the reports. Since I am unable to reproduce this problem, I must be doing something differently from you.

Can you try disabling all filter lists except EasyList, removing all custom filters, and clicking the "Update now" button in the Adblock Plus Options?

okay you're right, leaving just the main easylist (updated just now) is alright. But as soon as I activate the fanboy list the Gmail issue with auto-complete comes again.

edit: but the loading of web pages seems to be affected when adding almost any filter.
edit: try this site with AB+ enabled, any filter, and then AB+ off: http://www.conceivablytech.com/

I have no clue on which filter causes this, would be nice to see what filters is active so I can remove it

The css issue "seems" to be fixed in the dev build of Chrome 14, if any Chrome users can confirm that these commits have fixed the gmail issue?

http://hg.fanboy.co.nz/rev/12c2eee4c40e

That said, we need better tools to debug chrome, like viewing what filters are being used on each page.. a simple request.

In general, the issue is this: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issue ... l?id=68705

Which is why we don't apply general rules on mail.google.com. I looked at EasyList - it doesn't have any element hiding rules for google.com or mail.google.com that use the style attribute. Looking at Fanboy's List - it does have a bunch of rules but all of them have "~mail.google.com" meaning that they shouldn't cause this problem.

PS: I just checked and unfortunately this issue still exists in Chrome 15 (canary).
PPS: Verified that none of the "recommended" filter lists currently causes this issue.
