Difference Between ABP Chome and ABP Firefox?

Post by bountyxneo »

Hi

I was wondering just what exactly is the difference between adblock plus for chrome and firefox. I know that blocking video adverts is done through a workaround in chrome because of a "bug" that Chrome hasn't yet fixed, but I was wondering if the functionality is otherwise the same as the firefox version.

Thanks

the differences are legion

Unlike the Firefox extension, the Chrome extension does not...
  • block ads inside plugin content (until the WebRequest API becomes stable)
  • block all content matching the filters, instead hiding what it cannot block (until the WebRequest API becomes stable)
  • add subscriptions via abp: links (although a competing extension by Michael Gundlach can)
  • allow the user to disable certain filters from a subscription
  • have an issue reporter
Some of the differences are based on limitations in Chrome, but some (especially the numerous UI differences) are legacies from the earlier extension AdThwart, which Wladimir Palant agreed to take over after Tom Joseph said he didn't have enough time to work on it any more.
There's a buzzin' in my brain I really can't explain; I think about it before they make me go to bed.
