Re: "Adblock Plus has been updated" page won't go away
We are aware of this issue and are currently investigating what's causing it and how we can reproduce it. So any information about your operating system and Chrome version could help us with that.
While some users report that this can be fixed by un- and reinstalling ABP, this doesn't seem to work for everyone. However, you can try to follow these instructions. Please tell us if it works for you or not.
- go to "chrome://extensions"
- check "developer mode" in the upper-right corner
- click on "_generated_background_page.html" in the Adblock Plus entry
- switch to the "Console" tab
- enter which should output "2.1"
- enter and restart your browser

Re: "Adblock Plus has been updated" page won't go away
some users succeeded to get rid of the bug by creating another chrome profile
Re: "Adblock Plus has been updated" page won't go away
That idea by greiner does not work for me, i enter localStorage.currentVersion and it just says undefined. i have uninstalled chrome and adblock plus and installed them again and still the same . i'm trying to get rid of it for a couple of days and no joy.
Re: "Adblock Plus has been updated" page won't go away
I don't think that we should suggest users to lose their browsing history and other data and to go through the process of setting up their Chrome profile from scratch again.mapx wrote:some users succeeded to get rid of the bug by creating another chrome profile
Supposedly, something (not yet sure what) on Chrome is interfering with Adblock Plus even though extensions are isolated from the rest of the browser. That would explain why it works on a blank, new profile and also why this only happens to some users and not to all of them.
Re: "Adblock Plus has been updated" page won't go away
could be something from the old abp versions that interferes with abp 1.3 ?
Re: "Adblock Plus has been updated" page won't go away
could be enough - for now - deleting the folders of abp extension ?

Re: "Adblock Plus has been updated" page won't go away
Oh the irony of adblock. It keeps on popping up with this its updated bs, exactly the reason why I have it in the first place! Hope it gets resolved soon, cos I can't get rid of the bloody thing!

Re: "Adblock Plus has been updated" page won't go away
@mapx: The issue (settings not being saved) was there before the update to Adblock Plus 1.3 - the new first-run page only made it obvious.
@papamost: Congratulations on curing the symptoms. Your Adblock Plus settings are still not being saved however and Adblock Plus has to redownload its filters on each browser start.

Re: "Adblock Plus has been updated" page won't go away
@shiner: Does the Inspector window (the one where you typed that command) show any errors other than "Port error"?
