Adblock not working on any of my browsers

Post by thinker-k9v »

I use 5 browsers: Firefox, Chrome, IE, Safari and Seamonkey. FF and Chrome are the ones I use most. I have Adblock installed on them all and it was working just fine until a couple of few weeks ago. I cannot pinpoint what the problem is. I have tried Virus and malware scans, defraging and disc cleanup. I have unchecked the "Allow some unintrusive advertising" box. I have tried left clicking and applying individual filters to the elements on the page - but it only works as long as I have the page open. If I close the page and open it again later the ad is back.

I have a desktop computer with all the same browsers and I am not having any problems there. Adblock is still wokring like a dream.

The only difference I can find is that the laptop is running Windows 8 and the Desktop is running Windows 7

HELP!

I can barely stand being on-line I have so many ads flashing at me everywhere...

FF + chrome (safari version isnt out yet)

FF verify "disable everywhere" be unchecked
chrome verify whitelisted domains ==> remove if see something

both: remove all custom filters

scanning for malware, try this:

The Safari extension is surely AdBlock, which we do not support; go here instead: https://adblock.tenderapp.com/
BTW Safari itself has been discontinued on Windows for a couple years, and it's probably insecure by now and you should uninstall it.

As for the others, if it doesn't have Plus in the name, it's probably AdBlock, which is not our product.

Anyway, at least one of these is our product, because you mentioned the "Allow some unintrusive advertising" box (which we have and they don't); try this to solve that problem (scroll to the bottom): en/faq_troubleshooting#false-negatives
There's a buzzin' in my brain I really can't explain; I think about it before they make me go to bed.

If you are certain about this being an Adblock PLUS issue, please file it at https://issues.adblockplus.org
