I tried to download The Element Hiding Helper extension, there are no instructions on how to install this. The file downloaded is element_hiding_helper_for_adblock_plus-1.3.2-fx+sm+tb.xpi but when I double click it, nothing happens it just wants to know how I want to open it.
I don't know what version of ABP I have (There is no version number anywhere) it's the one I download off the website just today. The same with Opera.
running Windows 7 ultimate.

There is no EHH for opera / chrome, that one is for firefox
anyway, you can't use ABP to remove that modal screen, you need some userscript, see this article (on how-to-do)
