adblock not blocking ads

I recently installed adblock app on my android smartphone. I have version 4.2.1 android . Adblock is running fine. I mean when I run the app it runs fine; no errors or anything. The only thing is that it doesn’t block ads in internet. I have surfed the net using Opera Mini, Opera, Chrome, Dolphin browser and Mozilla firefox. Adblock is not blocking ads in any of these browsers. Popups are appearing and ads are still appearing while surfing google in any of the browsers. Ads also appear in apps that are free like Nimbuzz and show ads while internet is connected. I am using Airtel 2G connection for surfing the internet. I live in New Delhi, India. My phone is rooted. I am using fanboy’s list.
