No outbound traffic for Tweetcaster

Post by fredsie »

Since installing Adblock on my Android phone I cannot post tweets with the twitter client Tweetcaster. The Tweetcaster incoming stream is unaffected. I switched off filtering and Tweetcaster outbound starts working again. Is there a fix for this?

We'd need to figure out what URLs Tweetcaster uses to send messages and why they are blocked (most likely by EasyList).
There's a buzzin' in my brain I really can't explain; I think about it before they make me go to bed.

OK, thanks, I think I understand what's going on now.

But I have no idea what the relevant URL is for Tweetcaster, or how to find it out. I also note that Adblock Android is stopping me from replying to you on this site! I had to revert to the desktop.

Does this mean I have to go thorough some process to find URLs and allow traffic for every service I use? Seems a bit cumbersome.

if https traffic, ABP (which is a proxy on android) can not manage it, so you should bypass that server (using the integrated bypass proxy list)

Sorry I'm being a bit slow. Where is this "integrated bypass proxy list"?

OK, thanks, it's the list in the wifi settings.

So all I have to work out now is what to put in it for Tweetcaster. I've guessed at tweetcaster.com (you never know!), but that didn't work. I don't know how to find what URL the app communicates with, and I don't think the good folk at Tweetcaster will be rushing to tell me as they use ads as a lever to get people to buy the ad-free version (which ironically I have).

you need some network traffic tool

read this http://developer.android.com/tools/debu ... ml#network
"The DDMS tool included in the Android SDK includes a tool for monitoring network traffic."
