Whitelist & other problems

Post by HastaAyer »

Adblock for Android isn't there yet. A few problems:

Where is the whitelist? The default subscription for Adblock Plus blocks adding articles to a book in Wikipedia, and I can't find a way to whitelist wikipepedia.org. Which leads to problem #2, which is that the ability to add subscriptions seems to be limited. Combined with the lack of a whitelist, this makes ABP unusable for me.

Also, as others have noted, ABP continues to ask me to set up the localhost proxy, even though it's already configured. Maybe not unacceptable, but annoying. I'm going to wait a while to reinstall it.

Final mark: Unacceptable. I know that the Android OS is difficult to code for, and I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the main problem is with the OS, not the app. But there are apps that work around Google's limits, and I believe that ABP could do so, too.

I completely agree that there should be an option in the GUI where to configure a custom whitelist. I don't really like it when my https traffic goes through a third party app, even if I have no reason to especially mistrust adblock plus. In the chrome or firefox plugins (on PC) this is easily solved by whitelisting

Code: Select all

. How can I achieve the same effect on addblock plus for android?
