"Block Ads On This Site" turns off

New to Adblock Plus, see that this is a part of the future that will change silly, distracting ads
I've just been testing it with CNN, and about half the time the main page comes up with ads and the "block ads" is unchecked and greyed out
What have I done wrong?
They don't seem to be jumpy flashy ads, and I have opted in for the non-silly ads campaign.
Is that what happens for non-silly ads?
