Wifi stops working after manually changing proxy settings

So I am using an older phone, a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini that runs on Android 4.2.2, and its non-rooted. I downloaded the app and followed the instructions on how to manually change the proxy settings by inputting the proxy name as localhost and the port number thats provided. However, my internet stops working on the phone after following those instructions. I need help on this matter please. WIll be much appreciated
