Site Cleanup?

Post by Mad_As_Hail! »

Since we don't have an Element Hiding Helper in ABP for IE, I can't do my usual things to clean up stray blocks. The site below uses a Adblock detector to shame users, 'You naughty Adblock use you, you're robbing us ... ' Also, the ads are generally blocked, but the backing boxes still appear as blank spaces with borders and backgrounds.

Is there a simple way to clean it up?

Code: Select all

Part way down, in a red highlighted box, I see:
"Our system has detected that an AdBlocker is installed in your browser. It is blocking advertisements and possibly other essential functions in our site. Please consider to support your bag-loving community by disabling the AdBlocker for TPF while you're browsing our forums. You may not be aware, but any visitor supports our site by just viewing ads. We thank you for considering and appreciate your support."

Could be. When I go there using Private mode in SeaMonkey, I don't see it. When I use inPrivate browsing in IE, I see two yellow ads for the same store, The second, smaller yellow ad is where the red block is when logged in.

well, it's not a blocking message.
You need a filter like this

Code: Select all

@@||pagead2.googlesyndication.com^$domain=purseblog.com
Even reported at easylist forum I don't think it will be added to the list (it's not blocking the functionality of the forum, right ?)
So, you could use the firefox workaround to add it as "custom filter": forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=40736

or .. just use chrome / firefox + ABP. Much better.

anyway, reported here:

I don't know what the first part of that post means or how to do any of that.

I prefer not to use IE at all, but there is a reason I do for that site. I normally use SeaMonkey with ABP and EHH.
