ABP worked ok for awhile. Today it appears that SeekingAlpha is tricking ABP to turn DISABLE ON. Now I am getting ads. Are others seeing this?

Thanks.

Did you click "disable anywhere" or disable on ? Those settings have to be unchecked if you want to block the ads

That no longer works. I would appear that advertisers are exploiting a bug in ABP to turn DISABLE ON. DISABLE EVERYWHERE no longer works as well. This worked fine yesterday.

why are you talking about bugs ? are you a specialist ?

Then: I tested that site in IE and I see no ads.

Refresh your filters:

You should:
-close IE
-go to ABP for IE folder, delete patterns.ini
-open IE, the list (easylist) should download
-test again

the folder with patterns.ini is at:
%userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Adblock Plus for IE\

(%userprofile% is your user profile directory, like "C:\Users\YourUser")

To be clear: "disable..." has to be unchecked

@gandc, please don't write the same things in other threads.

This fixed the problem. I do not understand why this happened. Can you explain this?

Thanks.

it happens sometimes (due to an incomplete updating process) that easylist is empty. The steps above fix the issue (forcing a refresh / downloading of easylist)

The EasyList had disappeared while I was having this problem. Now it is back and the ads are being blocked again.

Thanks for your advice.

I just had to delete the patterns.ini file again. This is now the third time I have had to do this with Seeking Alpha. I renew my comment that there is a bug in the software that may allow web sites to restore their ads. You need to generate a trouble ticket to investigate this.

Thanks.

ABP has stopped working again. This is the third time this week I had to delete the patterns.ini file.

I am getting the SA comments in IE 11 but I am getting ads. There is no posting function in IE as there is in Chrome.

I do not see the SA comments but I do not see the ads in Chrome.

ABP is completely screwed up and I do not know how to fix this mess. I have reinstalled it but this has not fixed the problem.
