Adblock Plus does NOT Work!

While this is an excellent ad blocker for Firefox, this does NOT work for all ads in Internet Explorer 11.

It does not block ads on http://www.thepiratebay.mn

And you can also check to see that it is NOT working by going to:

http://www.adblocktest.com/

See the threads on ABP for IE and see how to "refresh" the filter lists (especially easylist list)

Anyway, you say that the ad block test site notifies you with a green box that says your ad blocker is working? And you did this in internet explorer? What version of Adblock plus on ie are you running and where did you get it?

I'm using 1.4.796 but you can install the last 1.4.798 from:

As I said: "refresh" your lists (sometimes the download of some list is incomplete and the easylist will be empty ==> the ads are not blocked)

Refresh your filters:

You should:
-close IE
-go to ABP for IE folder, delete patterns.ini
-open IE, the list (easylist) should download
-test again

the folder with patterns.ini is at:
%userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Adblock Plus for IE\

(%userprofile% is your user profile directory, like "C:\Users\YourUser")

What do you mean it doesn't work in any browser? You can't access the site or you can't block its ads? Adblock plus blocks the ads on thepiratebay in Firefox

yes, I cant access the site, but it can depends on my country, providers, DNS etc. Irrelevant for you.

Just refresh your lists following the steps above and test again if you see the green stuff on that site.

Adblockplus 1.4.0.0 & IE 11 here. No ads on the vg domain & green working box on the test site.

Just follow the steps mapx posted above to refresh your lists & you will be good.

I followed your steps and deleted patterns.ini and then restarted IE and tested again.

Still does not work and does not block ads on thepiratebay.mn

I manually downloaded easylist and easyprivacy and then the ads on thepiratebay.mn were successfully blocked.

But this still doesn't mean adblockplus is doing it's job because it's not. It didn't download the lists by itself.

Then I disabled adblockplus and restarted IE and went to thepiratebay.mn and the ads were still blocked.

So adblockplus is good for nothing...

Works fine for me but then I have no problem troubleshooting any program I use.
Have you considered the problem may be at your end?

Why would it be on my end? It simply does not work. It is a problem with adblock plus not my problem. This is not worth the time to trouble shoot when I could just use these tracking lists which block ads all by themselves. They render programs like adblock plus useless

It doesn't work for me either in IE11.

Ended up being an issue on my end because I just installed windows 10 and now adblockplus works in ie11. So I suggest if it doesn't work to either refresh or reset windows or do an in place upgrade or reinstall windows. I think reinstalling windows is the only way to fix this though.

Seems quite drastic To reinstall windows just to get an adblocker to work, but I must say it is the best adblocker for firefox and ie...
