Windows 7, IE 11, Adblock 1.5 not working!

Post by DIE, ADS »

UPDATE: It turns out that Adblock works okay when I launch IE directly, but when I use desktop shortcuts it doesn't start up. I can get around the problem by just starting up IE and going to whatever website it is where I want to block ads, but since I'm rather attached to my shortcuts I would like a better solution.

I am using the latest version of IE on Windows 7 (so unless there's an issue, it's probably IE 11), and Adblock 1.5 does not work. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it at least ten times, and everything I've tried has failed to work. I don't know what to do, I can't find anyone else having problems with Adblock on Windows 7. Please help, ads are slowly yet surely driving me insane.

failed to work: what do you mean ? the ads aren't blocked ? Do you get some error ?
Do you see the ABP icon on the status (bottom) bar?

I should have been more specific. You have to understand, advertisements are making me insane.

Anyhow, ads still just show up. No error. I don't see a status bar at all, all I see is the Google toolbar along the top of the window. There is no ABP icon there.

EDIT: Sorry, I was being dumb. I enabled the status bar, the ABP icon actually is showing up. ABP doesn't seem to have any effect anywhere.

EDIT: The ABP icon seems to show up on this website, but not on any others, actually.

-click ABP icon, settings, uncheck "Allow some non-intrusive advertising", choose a site where usually you get ads (tell me which one) test again
-if still does not work force updating the filters: forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=40732

It turns out the problem is that ABP does not work when I launch IE using a desktop shortcut, but when I launch it directly ABP does work. Is there any way around this?

yes, the pinned sites are running with the addons disabled.

You have to create normal internet links. When you want create one, just press shift when you drag the link on desktop.
