This one slipped through

Post by Mark.Spears »

I have had excellent luck in averting obtrusive popups since installing AdBlockPlus just over a month ago.
However, http://clicklossmitigate.com/popvertising/ today broke though and popped open a new IE window which cannot be closed without invoking Windows Task Manager.
This occurred when I clicked on the image in http://chronos.to/u4kehqn42jg9.
Interestingly enough, this happened the day after I Unchecked the option to Allow some non-intrusive advertising.

As background, I am running IE11 on Windows 7 x64.
It would be very handy for me to be able to add sites to block in the settings page, similarly to being able to allow (disable blocking of) specified sites.
I would make something of a contribution if this were to happen.

AdBlockPlus forever!

You need a filter like this

Code: Select all

||adcpm.com^
However, in ABP for IE there is no feature which permits you to handle the custom filters.
See this workaround:

What would it take to enable custom filter management directly in IE?

I realize that Microsoft has announced end of support for IE, so such an effort may yield spoiled fruit.
The one thing I like about IE over other browsers is the ability to manage favorites as individual files in Windows Explorer.
Are there any other browsers that do this, perhaps through an add-on?

Beginning in January 2016, Microsoft will end its support for older versions of Internet Explorer and instead focus on support for Internet Explorer 11. Always looking ahead, Microsoft will work to improve Internet Explorer 11 with more updated security features, better backwards compatibility, and a better overall browser experience.
