Adblock Plus stopped working

I have checked other posts regarding adblock stopping to work and could not find any of the reasons listed...unless, I missed something... which I will apologize for if I did.

I am running Windows 7 and IE 11. When I click on the ABP icon on my screen to check for updates, it tells me I have the most recent version.

My problem is that I have been running ABP for a long time with no problems. Then suddenly about 3-4 days ago... I suddenly am showing ads in websites that I frequent and never had ads before. I have not added or made any changes to my computer. This just happened out of nowhere. I do run CC regularly and always have run it the entire time using ABP.

Has anyone else running WIN 7 and IE 11 had any problems?

Any thoughts on what I should do?

I did read the Dec 2015 instructions prior to posting.

However, I am not technically savvy and am not familiar with "easylist was wrongly downloaded, force updating it" Could I ask you what that is so I can better understand what I am doing?

I had thought of removing ABP and then d/l it again. Would that fix the problem?

ABP - to block / hide ads - is using the filter lists. The main list is easylist, but if for some reason it wasn't downloaded / updated correctly then could be empty and no ad will be removed.
So, follow the instructions there and force updating easylist.

Hello!

My ABP stopped working again! Seems the previous fix was temporary. Do you have any other recommendations?

Would REMOVING and REINSTALLING ABP fix the problem? I have gone a few years using ABP and this problem never occurred.

Are you using the last build ?

But, I did Remove and do a new Install and is working again!

Well, Adbkock stopped working again. I REMOVED and again D/L and it is now working again!! Not sure why after years of using Adblock I am suddenly having this problem.
Until now, I never needed to do anything. It always worked smoothly...absolutely no problems.

I am using the latest release that is considered safe.

Yes, I do use CCleaner...but, I have used it for years. Are you aware of any new changes CCleaner has made? I am using the CCleaner Free Version.

What would you also consider to be an "optimizing software"?

I cannot think of any new software that I have added. The only changes would be if the software itself had new updates e.g. Norton, Adobe, Java,
Malwarebytes, etc

Appreciate any thoughts/input you may offer.

OK...here I am again!! Adblock stopped working.

I did as it states on the Test your Adblock page...Go to Manage Add-ons and I disabled everything except Adblock.

I went back to the test site and it still states "NOT WORKING"!

I am becoming very discouraged. I don't know why it worked for years and suddenly stopped!

The only way I can keep up my Adblock is by removing it and D/L it again.

It now lasted me 9 days and it has stopped working AGAIN!

There has to be a reason why for several years I never had a problem and now I am.

it's something in your system, so, it's difficult to reproduce such issue.

try resetting IE, reinstalling ABP
