uncheck enable 3rd party browser extension disables Adblock?

Adblock test at ( http://simple-adblock.com/faq/testing-your-adblocker/ ) shows not working when I go to internet options/advanced tab and uncheck "enable third party browser extensions".
Does Adblock disabled when I uncheck this option. Also the ABP stop sign in status bar disappears when I uncheck this option. I looked in manage addons and adblock is still enabled so why does Adblock show not working on the Adblock test.
