[1.7.2.1105] Safari: Upgrade resets non-intrusive setting

Post by mpaska »

The latest upgrade to 1.7.2.1105 on Safari 7.0.1 causes ABP to reset the "Allow some non-intrusive advertising" to on, when I previously had it turned off.

I noticed this as well. The non intrusive ads preference was set to disabled for me.
Went into Safari preferences (extension updates are set to install automatically), Safari updated to latest version.
Then afterwards I checked ABP settings, and that particular preference was re-enabled after the update.

No, I haven't uninstalled or re-installed anything. This just happened again with the automatic update to 1.7.4.1111.

Were only "Allow some non-intrusive advertising" enabled again, or were all settings reset to default and the first run page showing again? The latter happens when browsing data are cleared. You can trigger that under Preferences -> Privacy. But Safari might also do that automatically when it thinks that it won't need that data anymore.

No, the only setting being reset is "Allow same non-intrusive advertising". This is happening on all 3-machines that I have the plugin installed, one of which is a Media Mac which settings haven't been touched in months.
