Safari 5.0.6 Leopard Won't Install Any Extension
Safari 5.0.6 Leopard Won't Install Any Extension
I've only recently upgraded my PowerPC Mac to run Leopard, and Safari 5.0.6 won't let me install any extension. There's always the message from the Extensions website that it can't be installed now and to try again in a few minutes. Downloading it from the official web site and attempting to install it that way also yields an error.
Aren't all the extensions supposed to work with all versions of Safari that support that feature? If so, then what's wrong and how do I fix it? If that's not the case, then where can I get a version of Adblock Plus that will install and work with Safari 5.0.6?

safari 6 or above required
Re: Safari 5.0.6 Leopard Won't Install Any Extension
No, Safari 5 is the first version that supported extensions, so they do work. The question is why won't any install?mapx wrote:safari 6 or above required
Re: Safari 5.0.6 Leopard Won't Install Any Extension
I'm talking about ABP for Safari
Re: Safari 5.0.6 Leopard Won't Install Any Extension
If that were true, then Adblock should (would) need to state that and not present it as an option to pick on the Apple web site. But they do present it, and say nothing about a specific version being required. Aside from that, this issue affects all the extensions I've tried to install so far, so it's not limited to Adblock Plus.mapx wrote:I'm talking about ABP for Safari
It's something else.

Re: Safari 5.0.6 Leopard Won't Install Any Extension
^^Have you tried AdBlock? I know Michael Gundlach ported his extension to Safari back when 5 was the latest version, so I think there is a version of Safari AdBlock that works for you.

Re: Safari 5.0.6 Leopard Won't Install Any Extension
Doesn't work. It's only for Intel-based Macs, whereas mine is PowerPC.
Re: Safari 5.0.6 Leopard Won't Install Any Extension
^^If an extension works on Safari 5, it doesn't matter whether it's Intel or PPC, because Safari extensions don't have binaries.

Re: Safari 5.0.6 Leopard Won't Install Any Extension
Like every other extension, Adblock doesn't install on Safari 5.0.6. As for using TenFourFox, that's not an option when I'm talking about Safari extensions, so let's limit the discussion to the topic at hand.
Re: Safari 5.0.6 Leopard Won't Install Any Extension
but it is an option for using a Web browser that is still updated with the latest security patches (the downside, however, is that it does not allow plugins, like Flash or Java, but it still allows extensions like ABP)Mulder wrote:As for using TenFourFox, that's not an option when I'm talking about Safari extensions
